Keith Richards joined Eric Clapton onstage at the Apollo Theatre in Harlem for a benefit concert in the name of the late Hubert Sumlin to raise money for the Jazz Foundation.
Keith hit the stage at the iconic New York venue at around midnight and started with Howlin’ Wolf’s ‘Going Down Slow’. Sumlin played in Howlin Wolf’s band.
He then cranked out ‘Little Red Rooster’, a song The Stones covered in 1964 and the with Clapton did ‘Spoonful’, a song Clapton made famous with Cream in the 60s.
Hubert Sumlin died from heart failure in December. Mick Jagger and Keith Richards paid for his funeral.
