Keith Urban says working with new collaborators has been “incredibly liberating”.
The 45-year-old country singer is gearing up for the release of his latest studio album Fuse which is due to drop in September.
Keith teamed up with a number of new producers on his upcoming record, including Nathan Chapman who worked on the star’s latest single, Little Bit of Everything.
Keith is proud of his latest songs.
“It’s been incredibly liberating, creatively, for me,” he told USA Today of working with the list of collaborators. “I don’t know why that is, because I’ve always been fortunate enough to make the records I want to make. I think just working with other people has just been a really enjoyable thing.”
Keith kicks off his Light the Fuse World Tour 2013 on July 18 in Cincinnati. The singer will filter in new material for his fans during the string of concerts.
“Because we hit the road in July and the record doesn’t come until September, I’m not sure how many new songs people want to hear. I certainly don’t want to hear too many when I go to somebody’s concert,” he mused.
“I’ll probably space it out, slipping a new one in every three or four songs. I don’t know – I’ll probably know that once we started getting further into the record and start putting the set list together. I should imagine three or four, maybe five new songs, and see how we go.”
Keith also revealed he has around 16 songs to choose from. The star insists he will be spoilt for choice when it comes to putting the final album together.
“It’s the first time I’m going to be well and truly over-cut, but that really allows me to shape the record,” he explained.
“I don’t need any more songs. Of course, if someone sends something that just hits the mark, then I’m going to figure out how to get in and record it.”
