US neo-soul artist Kelis reveals the new tune ‘Distance’, co-written by UK dubstep hero Skream.
NME reveals that the singer most famous for her milkshake is preparing her sixth album. She’s also well-known for choosing adventurous producers and co-writers, and this time she’s utilized the talents of British dubstep Skream.
Kelis said to NME, “I was working with a friend of mine and she said ‘Skream’s got this great track for you, can I get him to send it?’. So I said yes and then he sent that track and something else. I’ve been on a real 1990s vibe with this record, it’s kind of trip-hoppish. So I wrote a track to that.”
The song has been aired on London’s Reprezent Radio station and someone was kind enough to rip it for the rest of the world.
Have a listen below. There’s no word yet on when her new album will be out, but she did tell NME that she’s “halfway” through the process.
