Kelly Clarkson is doing her best to ensure she will not ‘raise a brat’.
The 32-year-old Never Again songstress gave birth to daughter River Rose in June 2014. She is also stepmother to husband Brandon Blackstock’s children from his previous relationship, Savannah and Seth.
Kelly takes parenthood extremely seriously and is doing everything she can to help her children.
‘It’s nice to have this little human and it’s a blessing, but it’s also such a responsibility,’ she told People magazine.
‘I’m like, ‘How can she learn faster?’ You just want to help them put their best foot forward and give them as many opportunities as you can – and make sure you don’t raise a brat. That is our goal.’
Although Kelly is quite the devoted mother, she makes it a point to spend quality time with her beau whenever possible.
She thinks it’s important parents continue to cultivate their relationship with each other, despite their commitments to their children.
‘Us moms can get stuck in our houses with the kids. Sometimes it’s really nice to just get outside [and] get your own identity back,’ Kelly explained.
‘As a couple, we think that date nights are important. We are both from broken homes and as a result you may not take time for yourselves as a couple. So we love our date nights.
‘We love being in Seth, Savannah and River’s lives and having our own stuff as well.’
