The nominations were announced this morning for the 49th Annual CMA Awards with veteran country artists Garth Brooks and Kenny Chesney nominated for Entertainer of the Year.
Brooks and Chesney will compete against Luke Bryan, Eric Church and Miranda Lambert for the coveted award.
Overall, Church and Little Big Town led all nominees with five each while Chesney and Lambert each received four as did songwriter and producer Shane McAnally. Sam Hunt, Maddie & Tae, Kacey Musgraves and Chris Stapleton each were given three nods.
While Brooks is only up for Entertainer of the Year, Chesney also has nominations for Single (American Kids), Album of the Year (The Big Revival) and Musical Event (Wild Child with Grace Potter). Other veteran artists nominated include Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard (Musical Event for Django and Jimmie), Keith Urban (Musical Event for Raise ‘Em Up with Eric Church) and all five nominations for Musician of the Year (Sam Bush (Mandolin), Jerry Douglas (Dobro), Paul Franklin (Steel Guitar), Dann Huff (Guitar), Mac McAnally (Guitar)).
Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood are hosting for the eighth time from Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on Wednesday, November 4. Steven Tyler and Kelsea Ballerina announced the nominations on ABC’s Good Morning America.
