Singer Kesha has broken her silence after losing her contract dispute with Sony bosses in court last week (19Feb16), insisting the case was all about making music “without being afraid, scared or abused”.

Kesha performer filed a sexual abuse lawsuit against her one-time mentor and producer Dr. Luke in October, 2014, accusing him of subjecting her to years of sexual, physical, verbal and emotional abuse.

She even went as far as to claim his actions led to her 60-day stint in the Timberline Knolls rehab clinic in Illinois two years ago, and asked to be released from the deal with Dr. Luke, claiming she was unable to continue with her music career, because she is prohibited from working with another producer.

A judge in Manhattan was unmoved by her argument and dismissed it as Kesha sobbed in the courtroom.

The singer’s peers and Hollywood stars like Reese Witherspoon and Anne Hathaway offered Kesha their support over the weekend and at the beginning of this week and now the 28-year-old has taken to Facebook to update fans.

“This case has never been about a renegotiation of my record contract – it was never about getting a bigger, or a better deal,” she wrote. “This is about being free from my abuser. All I ever wanted was to be able to make music without being afraid, scared, or abused.”

The star added the issue is now “bigger than just about me,” and fans seemed to agree, clocking up more than 8,000 ‘likes’ in the five minutes immediately after the post went online.

“I think about young girls today – I don’t want my future daughter – or your daughter – or any person to be afraid that they will be punished if they speak out about being abused, especially if their abuser is in a position of power,” she added.

“Unfortunately I don’t think that my case is giving people who have been abused confidence that they can speak out, and that’s a problem,” she added.

Kesha’s case was also a hot topic at the Brit Awards in London on Wednesday night (24Feb16), with the event’s first trophy winner, Adele, taking a moment to show her support during her acceptance speech.

“I’d also like to take this moment to publicly support Kesha,” the Hello star said as she waved her award in the air.
