Soul-pop starlet Kimbra launches her career with an EP and Gotye showcase in the US.
Kimbra has had a stellar beginning in Australia, with her debut album Vows hitting number four on the charts after appearing on Spring’s biggest single – Gotye’s ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’.
In her worldwide deal with Warners, she’ll be introduced to the American market through a four-song EP, which has been released today.
The EP is titled ‘Settle Down’, and obviously leads with the jaunty little number that introduced her to Australia. It also features her second single ‘Cameo Lover’, a remix of ‘Limbo’ by Sam Sparro & Golden Touch, and a live cover of Nina Simone’s ‘Plain Gold Ring’ to show off her pipes.
Kimbra and Gotye also play a showcase gig tonight at Club Satellite in LA, and then Warner Bros says she’ll record with producers and songwriters as Mike Elizondo, Greg Wells, Greg Kurstin, and John Hill for a new version of her debut to be release in the US in the first half of next year.
