Melbourne is about to have another music venue. The 400 capacity Geddes Lane Ballroom at 46 King St, Melbourne will open on October 11 with first act Kingswood.
Geddes Lane Ballroom gone by numerous names over the years. It was recently known as Showgirls Bar 20, before that The Grainstore Tavern. Its history includes performances or launches for John Farnham, Daryl Braithwaite and INXS.
Geddes Lane Ballroom’s latest venue is from Lorenz Grollo and Shannon Bennett. The make-over is part of the King Street Revival Project. Ben Thompson and Ashlea O’Loughlin (The Venue Collective, 170 Russell, East Brunswick Club).
Grollo is CEO of the Grollo Group while chef Bennett create the menu and curate the food trucks that will line the laneway on band nights.
Opening night band Kingwood released their new song ‘Messed It Up’ this week.
