Disgraced Sydney post-punk performer Kirin J Callinan will use the resources of SXSW to claw back some credibility after his dick flashing expose at the ARIA Awards in 2017.

Callinan was on the rise and gathering great reviews when he flushed away his hard work by exposing himself at the ARIA’s of 2017 and ending up with a 12 month good behaviour bond for public exposure. He was also dropped from Laneway because of the incident.

Kirin J Callinan hopes to put his past in the past with a SXSW Showcase hopefully staged to relaunch his career.

SXSW has also added Melbourne’s Blush’ko and Sydney’s Rachael Fahim.

They join the previously list of 45 Australian showcasing bands:

Music education in the UK faces significant challenges, with varying needs across regions, schools, and age groups. While the UK music industry contributed a record £7.6 billion to the economy in 2024 (source: UKMusic.org), disparities still remain in terms of access to music education. A 2019 BPI survey revealed that one in four schools serving disadvantaged communities offer no music lessons at all.
