Michael Rother of brilliant krautrock pioneers NEU! Will head to Australia in March for a string of shows around the country.
Rother’s tour dates, posted on his website, include shows in Adelaide, Sydney and Brisbane. When they were first posted, a show at Melbourne’s Corner Hotel was also included, but it seems to have mysteriously disappeared.
NEU! formed in 1971 and over the next four years released three albums with a solid 4/4 beat and repetitive guitar and synthesiser lines that go on ad infinitum.
The split in 1975 after the release of their third album NEU! ’75 for ten years, returning in 1985 where they lasted until the 1995 release of the out-takes album NEU! 4. 2010 saw the release of a NEU! 4 reissue and a spectacular vinyl box set that sold out almost instantly.
Their influence can still be heard today in the indie rock bands that were inspired by the indie rock bands that were inspired by NEU!.
These dates appear to be pretty close to the Golden Plains festival, which is yet to release another wave of acts. Fingers crossed, hey?
