Kris Kristofferson to tour Australia with Merle Haggard’s band The Strangers

by Paul Cashmere on June 5, 2019

in News

Country music legend Kris Kristofferson will perform 15 shows across Australia in September and October with Merle Haggard’s backing band The Strangers behind him.

Haggard’s band features Scott Joss (fiddle and vocals), Doug Colosio (keyboards & vocals) and Jeff Ingraham (drums). Joss has the added legacy of also playing with Dwight Yoakham.

Kristofferson’s Aussie tour will be the first since Lady Gaga’s ‘A Star Is Born’. Kris played the Bradley Cooper character Jack Maine known as John Howard in the Streisand version. (For whatever reason the character names in the 2018 film were changed to the less racial Ally and Jack, not the Esther and Norman names used in the 1937, 1954 and 1976 versions.
