Kylie Minogue’s American-centric ‘Kiss Me Once’ has debuted on the US album chart at no. 31.
‘Kiss Me Once’ sold 12,000 units in America in the past week, more than the 8,166 that gave the title a number one debut home in Australia.
The Kylie album also missed the number one spot in the UK chart coming in at no. 2 behind George Michael ‘Symphonica’. However, Michael wasn’t as successful in the USA. His album came in at no. 60. ‘Kiss Me Once’ dropped to no 9 in its second week on the UK Midweek Sales chart.
Kylie spent a lot of time creating this new record for the US market. After the departure of her longtime manager Terry Blamey, Kylie hooked up with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation management and then started working with US producers and songwriters on what would become ‘Kiss Me Once’.
The new partnership is yet to generate any positive direction for the singer since leaving Blamey.
The first single ‘Into The Blue’ was Kylie’s first failure for a lead single from a Kylie album. ‘Into The Blue’ failed to make the Australian Top 40, and fell out of the Top 100 after three weeks.
Kylie Minogue will launch her next single live at The Logie Awards on April 27. She will also lift her profile with an appearance on Season 3 of The Voice in Australia.
