Kylie Minogue End Roc Nation Management Deal

It appears that Kylie Minogue may be ready to shake up her career.

The Australian singer has ended her relationship with both her record company, Parlophone, which she has been with since 2000, and Jay-Z’s management company Roc Nation, which she joined in 2013.

An insider told Britain’s The Sun that “The deal [with Roc Nation] just didn’t work out for either side and she thinks they didn’t ever understand her as an artist. Her last album was nowhere near as successful as she hoped. She now wants to go into a different direction.”

Kiss Me Once, which she released just over a year ago, has only gone Silver in the U.K. with sales of about 77,000 copies, her lowest selling album ever and her first to not go Platinum in twenty years. The singles from the album, Into the Blue (2014 / #12 U.K.) and I Was Gonna Cancel (2014 / #59 U.K.), marked the first time that no releases made the British top ten since 1997’s Impossible Princess and is only the third album of her career not to produce a top ten hit.

Minogue tried to smooth over the departure, telling the Sun “I’ve had an amazing time with Roc Nation and it’s been fantastic to team up with them over the last two years. We got together at a period in my life when I wanted to shake things up.”

As far as the split from Parlophone, a spokesman said “Kylie has fulfilled her contract with Parlophone. She has enjoyed and continues to enjoy a long and respectful relationship with the label.”

Kylie released six studio albums through the label:

Light Years (2000 / #2 U.K. / #1 Australia)
Fever (2001 / #1 U.K. / #1 Australia / #3 U.S.)
Body Language (2003 / #6 U.K. / #2 Australia / #42 U.S.)
X (2007 / #4 U.K. / #1 Australia / #139 U.S.)
Aphrodite (2010 / #1 U.K. / #2 Australia / #19 U.S.)
Kiss Me Once (2014 / #2 U.K. / #1 Australia / #31 U.S.)
