Everyone is talking about the vomit stunt at the Lady Gaga SXSW show. No-one is talking about the music. Isn’t SXSW meant to be about music? Lady Gaga showcased at SXSW, the world’s biggest music conference, in Austin, Tx this week and all anyone is talking about is spew.
Artists from all over the world flock to SXSW every March to get their music heard. Music executives, media … the people who take the industry seriously. Lady Gaga served up, or should we say threw up, a ‘look at me, talk about me’ performance.
Gaga was on display at SXSW and she blew it. Not only did she sell out to a manufactured chip company and then expected respectable industry people to tweet about her diabetes-causing sponsor, the pop queen also had a puke scene in her act and that is just about all anyone is talking about.
Just like Fonzi in that famous Happy Days episode all those years ago, Lady Gaga has jumped the shark. The truth is no-one takes Lady Gaga seriously anymore. Her last album ‘Artpop’ has a major stiff. She fired her management, because, hey, it must have been their fault, and she has had one continuous failure after another since the release of the record.
When the puke is bigger than the album you have a problem. SXSW is all about making a statement. Lady Gaga has. She has officially become a parody of herself.
