Lady Gaga Weighs In On Trump Hypocrisy

Lady Gaga has accused Donald Trump’s wife of “hypocrisy” after she vowed to fight cyber-bullying if her husband is voted in as U.S. President.

The pop superstar, who has been a vocal supporter of Trump’s Democratic rival Hillary Clinton, took to Twitter on Sunday (06Nov16) to share her views, three days after former model Melania Trump delivered a speech, in which she outlined her main priority if she becomes First Lady, at a Republican campaign rally in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

“Like anything that is powerful, (social media) can have a bad side,” Melania told attendees at Thursday’s (03Nov16) event. “Children and teenagers can be fragile. They’re hurt when they’re made fun of or made to feel less in looks or intelligence (sic).

“This makes their life hard and can force them to hide and retreat. Our culture has gotten too mean and too rough, especially to children and teenagers… We have to find a better way to talk to each other, to disagree with each other, to respect each other.”

Melania’s speech was considered ironic by many, particularly since her husband has become notorious for using the micro-blogging site to attack his rivals and critics, often using derogatory terms to slam anyone he disagrees with.

Lady Gaga was among those who questioned the Slovenian native’s proposed initiative, tweeting, “To say u (sic) will stand for ‘anti-bullying’ is hypocrisy. Your husband is 1 of the most notorious bullies we have ever witnessed.”

The singer, who is also an anti-bullying activist through her Born This Way Foundation, then went on to show her support for Clinton as she shared a snap of herself holding up her absentee ballot while wearing a sweater bearing the phrase, ‘Hillary for President’.

“@realDonaldTrump you divided us with hateful language & fear,” she captioned the photo. “I love everyone in this country and I vote for @HillaryClinton to unite us.”

Gaga also issued a call to action to her U.S.-based fans to help elect Hillary to office on Tuesday (08Nov16).

“Young people listen up,” she wrote. “We need to mobilize now, #VoteHillary and stop this dangerous man from continuing to divide and wreck our democracy.”

Gaga previously performed in support of Clinton as part of the Democratic National Convention in July (16), and she has made it very clear why she believes the former Secretary of State is the right choice to succeed President Barack Obama.

“Because I am a celebrity, I have insight into the type of person that Donald Trump is,” she explained on a Japanese talk show last week (ends04Nov16), reports UsMagazine.com. “The truth is that we celebrities know that he is an actor, and that this is an act. So, we are standing with Hillary not just because she is far superior as the choice for president, but we are also standing with her because it would be a complete disaster to elect someone that is essentially a political impostor.”
