The St Jerome’s Laneway Festival is heading to America with the official launch at SXSW in Austin next month.
Laneway promoters Danny Rogers and Jerome Borazio put on the event annual with co-promoters Chugg Entertainment. The event started as a back alley street party in Melbourne in 2004.
“Bringing Laneway to America is something we knew we had to do and we couldn’t have chosen a more quintessentially American city to have it in. Everyone will be just as excited as we are when they hear about the incredible line-up and unique location,” they said in a statement.
The first US location will be announced soon.
The St Jerome’s Laneway Festival has featured Mumford & Songs, Florence + The Machine, Feist, The xx and Tame Impala over the years.
“Coming to America is a big moment for Laneway and is the first time an Australian festival has been launched into North America. We are delighted to be working with our partners, who are some of the best operators in the industry and their vision will be integral to the event’s success” they said. “We’re also really looking forward to getting behind Australasian artists and helping them continue the amazing run of success Aussie acts have had in the States recently.”
The Laneway SXSW Showcase will be held in March 15 at Red 7 in Austin from midday to 6pm.
The featured artists are Alpine, Blessed Feathers, CHVRCHES, Flume, Guards, Haerts, Merchandise, No Ceremony, Palma Violets, Vance Joy and xxyyxx.
