Ratt is in the market for a new lead singer after original member Stephen Pearcy jumped ship.
Pearcy, the final founding member of Ratt to still be with the group, has decided to move on citing internal strife within the band, personal attacks and what he calls “the disrespect to the fans.”
Pearcy recently lost his sister, forcing the band to cancel their appearance on the Monsters of Rock Cruise; however, the singer had recently talked about his work on a new Ratt album.
Pearcy’s statement:
After 30 years creating the band RATT and losing a real brother, Robbin [Crosby, late RATT guitarist], it’s time that I personally part ways with the band. I am officially done with having anything to do with them due to the constant turmoil, unresolved business, personal attacks/threats in the public forum, and most of all, the disrespect to the fans.
I’m very content and proud of the legacy and the music I’ve created. This music will live well beyond any of our lifetimes. I owe no one anything but a huge heartfelt thank you for coming to the party for the last 30 years.
With much respect, life goes on and the music I created will continue to be heard for years to come despite the dark clouds that have lingered for far too long. I will personally continue to make music and perform live shows.
See you out there.
Pearcy started the band in the late 70’s as Mickey Ratt but shortened the name to simply Ratt when they relocated to Los Angeles in 1980. They released their debut EP in 1983 and signed to Atlantic for their first full length set, 1984’s Out of the Cellar, which included their biggest hit, Round and Round.
The singer left the group in 1992 to form the band Arcade, following three years later with VD and Vertex in 1996. With none of his new groups catching on, he returned to a newly reformed Ratt in late-1996 where he stayed until 2000 when he left to form Nitronic and his own version of Ratt. The band reformed once again in 2006.
