James Murphy, the brain behind LCD Soundsystem, will act in a comedy and appear in a doco on the act.
First thing’s first, there’s going to be an LCD Soundsystem documentary. The beloved hipster act, masterminded by Murphy, has been captured in a film called Shut Up And Play The Hits, which will debut at Sundance.
The film covers the 48 hours around the group’s final show at Madison Square Garden.
Also debuting at Sundance, will be a comedy called… The Comedy, where Murphy will test his acting chops.
It also stars Tim Heidecker of Tim And Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job! (and, briefly, Bridesmaids) and will centre around a group of aging Brooklyn hipsters. So, good to see there’s no typecasting.
The Comedy is directed by Rick Alverson, and this is his fourth film produced by label Jagjaguwar, best known for releasing Bon Iver and Okkervil River albums.
