The legendary Canadian recording studio Le Studio (Morin-Heights) where classic recordings by The Tea Party, The Police and The Bee Gees were created, has been destroyed by fire.
The studio was used by the Bee Gees for ‘Children of the World’, Cat Stevens for ‘Numbers’, The Tea Party ‘The Interzone Mantras’ and The Police ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic’. David Bowie, Celine Dion, Rush, Keith Richards and Bryan Adams had at times recorded at Le Studio.
The studio had been desolate since 2008.
André Perry, Nick Blagona and Yaël Brandeis built Le Studio in the town of Morin-Heights, Quebec. Perry had been a recording engineer for John Lennon. The Bee Gees spent five months at the studio recording their ‘Children of the World’ album in 1976. The album featured ‘You Should Be Dancing’, ‘Love So Right’ and ‘Boogie Child’.
Sting had been on a skiing holiday in Quebec when he chanced upon the studio. A lot his first solo album ‘The Dream of the Blue Turtles’ was created there.
A crowdfunding campaign to kickstart Le Studio was started in 2015. Montreal musician hoped to raise $2.4 million to reopen its doors. He raised just $4000.
