Katy Perry is hoping that others can learn from the way she and Taylor Swift put their differences behind them following their much-publicised feud.
The feud between the pair began in 2014, when Taylor revealed to Rolling Stone magazine that she and Katy had fallen out after the Roar hitmaker nabbed some of the Shake It Off star’s dancers for a string of live dates.
However, the duo made amends when Katy reached out to Taylor on the opening night of her 2018 Reputation Stadium Tour, sending her a literal olive branch. Katy has since proved she’s back on good terms with her former pal by appearing in her video for new track You Need To Calm Down.
And speaking about making up with Taylor during an interview on Australian breakfast radio’s The Kyle & Jackie O Show on Wednesday, Katy said she hopes that she and the 29-year-old singer have set an example for others on how to move on from rows.
“I can trust her and she can trust me, and we’ll see each other in the halls of the music industry and not avoid each other. We’ll embrace,” Katy smiled. “It’s amazing that we’ve had this opportunity to change, and I hope that other people can learn from it, too.”
Later in the interview, Katy opened up about her relationship with fiance Orlando Bloom, and once again stressed that she’s in no rush to get down the aisle.
“I think we’re doing really great and we’re really doing the hard work and laying the beautiful foundation before we start to build a monster house,” she mused. “I’m saying more figuratively, like emotionally. It’s important for us to really do the work before we go and take this really big next step. Because he was married before and it’s not the same in your 30s as you know.”
Orlando was previously married to model Miranda Kerr, with whom he shares son Flynn, while Katy was married to British comedian Russell Brand.
