After Noel Gallagher reportedly turned them down, Liam agrees to do Oasis’ ‘Wonderwall’ at the Olympics Closing Ceremony.
NME report (via The Sun) that Liam and his new band Beady Eye will perform the Oasis classic at the Closing Ceremony alongside The Who, Kaiser Chiefs, Take That and George Michael.
This is supposedly after his brother Noel Gallagher turned down organizers offer to play the song with his new band Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds. Apparently after “a couple of months” consideration, Noel and his management knocked them back.
According to a ‘source’, his reasoning was, apparently, that “he has been on a great tour and he doesn’t really need to do it.” Or that he might not be the right person to sing the song.
The London Olympics Closing Ceremony takes place on Sunday 12 August. Sing-along below.
