Christina Milian and Lil Wayne are still on talking terms.
The 33-year-old singer and her 32-year-old rapper beau were reported to have ended their relationship in August after a year together.
And now Christina has opened up about the split for the first time, insisting the pair are still in a good place.
“He and I are good,” Christina told ETonline. “I know a lot of people have been asking, but we’re talking and we’re fine.”
As well as their personal relationship, Christina and Lil Wayne have a professional one too.
The Lollipop rapper features on Christina’s next single Do It, and the mother-of-one’s opinion hasn’t changed about her ex’s talent.
“He’s just talented. He’s just awesome,” Christina said. “The lyrics are all about me! I wanted it to be real. The song’s about he and I, so it was perfect.”
Christina and Li Wayne were first romantically linked in July 2014, but she didn’t start speaking about their relationship publicly until just a few months ago.
She later revealed the secrecy about the romance made it all the more exciting.
‘I think it’s so sexy. I like to keep the sexiness going,” she told E! News.
“We have a very fun and cool relationship. There are so many things, what do I start with? He’s very genuine. He’s a very genuine person and no matter what, love comes first with him.”
Christina is mother to five-year-old daughter Violet with her songwriter ex-husband The-Dream and Lil Wayne has four children of his own.
And in an interview with Us Weekly last June, she gushed about how well their families were merging together.
“They know and recognise each other – he’s very much a part of my life and Violet is very much a part of my relationship,” she explained to Us Weekly magazine.
“She is very close to her dad, so Violet has her dad in her life, she has us in her life, so in time [they’ll develop a closer bond]. It’ll take some time.’
