Justice Crew could land their second No.1 single this coming weekend, as their new single “Que Sera” has been selling highly since it was released late last week.
Their closest competition comes from last weeks No.1 debut “Sing” for Ed Sheeran and or the No.4 entry of “Problem” for Ariana Grande and Iggy Azalea.
Former No.1 “Geronimo” for Sheppard should retain its top five status, as too David Guetta with “Bad”, whilst also staying within the Top 10 should be Jason DeRulo with “Wiggle”, Sia with “Chandelier”, Iggy Azalea with “Fancy” and possibly Rita Ora with “I Will Never Let You Down”. These songs might be joined by Sam Smith with “Stay with Me” (TW-22) and ZHU with “Faded” (TW-21) which has now picked up mainstream airplay.
“Stolen Dance” for Milky Chance jumped from 60 to 35 last week, and this week it could leap into the Top 15, whilst a new Coldplay track from next weeks “Ghost Stories” release entitled “A Sky Full of Stars” could enter within the Top 20 (or just outside it like “Midnight” did a couple of weeks ago). Another song which leapt into the Top 50 last week was “Turn Down for What” (TW-43) by DJ Snake and Lil’ Jon, which this week could leap up into the Top 20.
Pharrell Williams and “Marilyn Monroe” (TW-40) look set for another jump, into the mid-Top 30 this week, whilst Katy Perry’s “Birthday” should stay stable around the same chart-region. MKTO’s tour here should push “American Dream” (TW-42) into the Top 40, whilst last weeks UK No.1 single of “Waves” for Mr. Probz could make a Top 40 debut this week.
With ‘The Voice: 2014’ starting on Sunday night with two weeks of Blind Auditions’, we should see a resurgence of older songs returning to the charts for the next couple of weeks, with renditions by the final team members charting in early June. This week so far we could see possible returns for Labrinth & Emeli Sande with “Beneath Your Beautiful” (HP-5, Feb 2013) and Dire Straits’ with “Romeo and Juliet” (HP-57, June 2012) (both Top 50 potentials), Adele with “Turning Tables” (HP-34, May 2012), BLACKstreet with “No Diggity” (HP-21, peaked March 1997) (both Top 70), Des’ree with her ‘Romeo & Juliet’ love theme “I’m Kissing You” (HP-17, peaked April 1997) (Top 80) and the four judges performed a version of The Script song “Hall of Fame” on Sunday night which could return to the charts too, but with one more show on tonight, there are bound to be more entries from the songs sung on ‘The Voice’.
Possible entries within the Top 50 include the new Michael Jackson song with Justin Timberlake entitled “Love Never Felt So Good” taken from Michael’s forthcoming album ‘Xscape’ which is out next week, whilst we also might see Nico and Vinz with “Am I Wrong”, both songs looking to enter within the 41-50 region of the chart, whilst just outside the Top 50 we could see Ricki-Lee enter with “All We Need is Love”, Tove Lo featuring Hippie Sabotage with “Stay High (Habits Remix)” and Gabrielle Aplin with her new track “Salvation”.
Currently Top 3 in the UK is female singer Kiesza with “Hideaway” and Bon Iver has covered the Bonnie Raitt songs “I Can’t Make You Love Me / Nick of Time” (Medley), both tracks could enter within the Top 80, whilst further new entries could come via DJ Khaled with T-Pain, Ludacris, Snoop Dogg and Rick Ross on “All I Do is Win”, Bobby Fox and Miranda Kerr with “You’re The Boss” and sitting just outside the hundred at the moment are Linkin Park with “Until it’s Gone”.
Albums:
At the moment it’s a tussle between two new albums for the new No.1 spot in the country, the third for both Lily Allen with “Sheezus” and local act The Thundamentals with “So We Can Remember”, although we shouldn’t leave out last weeks No.1 of the ‘Frozen’ soundtrack, as the DVD and BR of the film only came out mid-last-week.
Returning to the Top 10 this week should be current national tourists The Arctic Monkeys, as “AM” (TW-25) could leap back into the Top 10 (maybe Top 5), plus it should be joined by their back catalogue too with “Whatever People Say…” (HP-1, Feb 2006) (Top 40); “Favourite Worst Nightmare” (HP-2, April 2007) (Top 50); “Humbug” (HP-2, August 2009), and “Suck it and See” (HP-4, June 2011) (both Top 60) all set to return this week.
Staying within the Top 10 this week should be Iggy Azalea, Chet Faker, INXS and Michael Buble, but they could be joined by ZHU with his “Nightday” EP and metal band Earthwalker with “In Hearts Wake”, whilst just outside we could see the Dustin Tebbutt EP “Bones” enter within the Top 20. Further Top 50 entries could come from Sarah McLachlan with “Shine On”, DZ Deathrays with “Black Rat” and another metal act, Being as an Ocean with “How we Both Wondrously Perish”.
In the lower region of the charts their could be entries via Tech N9ne with “Strangeulation”, Ariana Grande returning with “Yours Truly” (HP-6, Sept 2013) now that “Problem” is a big hit, the new self-titled album for Natalie Merchant, Ray LaMontagne with “Supernova”, Brooke Candy with her EP “Opulence” and the self titled album for All Sons and Daughters.
