Lionel Richie will make his SXSW debut at the Billboard show at ACL Live next Wednesday in Austin.
Richie is about to release ‘Tuskegee’, an album of country songs and featuring country stars like Tim McGraw, Rascal Flatts, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Jennifer Nettles and Darius Rucker.
Richie has never appeared at SXSW before. “I can’t wait to perform at the Billboard showcase at South by Southwest,” says Lionel Richie. “It’s so great to be a part of a festival that for two decades has helped launch the careers of some important new artists and celebrate iconic artists who have had a lasting impact on the musical landscape. I’m looking forward to checking out some of the new bands that I’ve been reading about for the last several months and making some new friends who share my passion for music.
“I want to thank Billboard for the invitation to perform, and I’m eager to hear the music from the other artists we’re sharing the Billboard stage with on March 14,” he continued. “I will be joined by a surprise guest who will help me unveil music from ‘Tuskegee,’ my new Mercury Nashville album coming out March 26 that features duets of 13 of my hits with some of the biggest names in country music. I can’t think of a better way to launch this album than by sharing the new music at South By Southwest.”
‘Tuskagee’ will be released later this month.
