The upcoming Icehouse ‘Dubhouse’ shows will be a total reinvention of Icehouse music.
Icehouse have posted samples of what you can expect when they become Dubhouse for their two shows in Melbourne and Sydney next month.
‘Great Southern Land’ has been given a Bob Marley make-over, ‘Electric Blue’ has gone Ska and ‘Hey Little Girl’ is now a reggae tune.
Iva Davies says he has had the idea for Dubhouse for over 30 years. “Ever since I saw Peter (Tosh) on stage, just happily playing, I wondered what it would feel like to be that relaxed!,” Iva says. “Since the early ’80s, the live Icehouse band started occasionally throwing reggae feels to sections of Can’t Help Myself and from time-to-time the band has had fun bringing those rhythms to other songs”.
The Icehouse Dubhouse shows are:
December 4, Melbourne, The Espy St Kilda
December 7, Sydney, Oxford Art Factory Darlinghurst
Icehouse will also perform for 2014 at Crown Casino, Melbourne in January 10, 11 and 14.
