NCIS star and R&B legend LL Cool J has been booked to host the 2012 Grammy Awards.
LL Cool J has been the host of the Grammy Nominations Concert for the last three years, but the actual Grammys haven’t had a host since 2005, when Queen Latifah emceed the event. Now the double-Grammy winner steps up the the majors.
According toReuters, he said, “I’m thrilled to be a part of music’s biggest night. I will always have fond memories of my first Grammy Awards and to now be hosting the Grammy show, in the company of so many other incredible artists, is a dream come true.”
Kanye West tops the nominations for this year, which were announced late-November 2011. He has seven, ahead of Adele, Bruno Mars and Foo Fighters with six nominations, and Lil Wayne and Skrillex with five.
Also late last year, LL Cool J announced that he’s been recording material for his first album since 2008, but he says “I’m taking my time”.
The 54th Grammy Awards will be held in LA on February 12.
