Rapper and actor LL Cool J has been tapped to host the Grammy Awards for the fifth consecutive year.
The Grammys will be held on Monday, February 15 (a change from the Sunday night ceremonies of recent years) at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. Once again, CBS will air the ceremony.
Neil Portnow, President/CEO of the Academy, said “We are delighted to welcome back the very talented LL Cool J as our host for the 58th Grammys. His unique expertise, both as a Grammy-winning recording artist and accomplished actor, allows him to connect with both his musical peers and the fans at home, and his dynamic personality and charismatic energy set the perfect tone for our show.”
LL Cool J added “The performances and moments that take place on the Grammy stage are awesome in so many ways for the audience and artists alike. I’m honored once again to host Music’s Biggest Night as we celebrate the talented music creators of today. It’s going to be an incredible night and I’m excited to share this experience with the world.”
The rapper is a two-time Grammy winner for Best Rap Solo Performance for Mama Said Knock You Out in 1992 and Hey Lover in 1997. Mama Said Knock You Out also won the MTV Video Music Award for 1991 and he was given the Video Vanguard Award in 1997.
