The Australian production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Love Never Dies’ will screen in American cinemas 900 times next week.
The Australian show debuted in Melbourne on May 28, 2011. It was the first production of ‘Love Never Dies’, the sequel to Phantom of the Opera, outside of London.
Tim McFarlane, Managing Director of The Really Useful Company, calls the impact across America “a terrific thumbs up for us”.
Andrew Lloyd Webber came to Melbourne for the filming of the local production for global release on DVD. “The filming of our show was a landmark in Australian theatre: the first production of a musical to be filmed for worldwide release. I was thrilled with the result,” Tim said in a statement. “When I saw what the camera had captured close up, the drama of this now classic love story, the continuing story of the Phantom and Christine, I was sure it would be embraced world wide”.
Lloyd Webber called the Australian production “extraordinary”, “seamless”, “fabulous” and “bliss”.
‘Love Never Stars’ has an Australian cast including Ben Lewis as The Phantom, Anna O’Byrne as Christine and Maria Mercedes as Madame Giry.
‘Love Never Dies’ is currently playing in Sydney where it will close on April 1.
The DVD has been released through Universal Music.
