On Friday, Jerry Yester saw a collection of rare recordings he recorded in the 60’s and 70’s released on Pass Your Light Around, but he was in no position to celebrate.
The day before (October 5), Yester was arrested in Boone County, Arkansas on thirty counts of possession of child pornography. He was booked at the Boone County Sheriff’s Office at 10:06 PM and released on $35,000 bail by 11:24 PM.
No other details have been announced.
Yester started playing music with his brother Jim as the Yester Brothers and went on to become a member of The New Christy Minstrels and The Modern Folk Quartet before joining the Lovin’ Spoonful in 1967 after Zal Yanovsky left the band. He played on their last top 40 hit, “She Is Still a Mystery”. He had also, earlier, played on “Do You Believe in Magic?” as a studio musician.
Jerry went on to produce the Association, Tim Buckley, The Turtles, Tom Waits and many more.
