Mac Miller Vigil To Be Held In Pittsburgh

Tragic rapper Mac Miller will be remembered by fans at a vigil in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on Tuesday evening.

Bosses at Nightfall Records are offering devotees the chance to mourn the star’s sudden death on Friday (07Sep18), revealing they will be staging an event at a playground in Frick Park, which inspired Miller’s 2011 debut album Blue Slide Park.

The vigil will begin at 5pm local time.

“We would like to bring the city together in full force for this legendary icon,” reads a statement from a record label representative. “Mac deserves to be sent off with an evening of celebrating his life, discussing his struggles, and remembering his stories; most importantly for his iconic work that brought joy into the lives of everybody who listened.

“We are welcoming all artists to come and paint, create, draw, live tribute art for this event.”

Liam Gallagher, Drake, J. Cole, G-Eazy, and Childish Gambino were among the stars who paid tribute to Miller at gigs over the weekend.

“I just wanna say, ‘I love you, Mac’, and I just want to tell you that I love you and this song is for him because I feel like sometimes he wanted to let go,” Gambino told fans at a show in Chicago, Illinois on Saturday night.

“I’m a very sensitive person… but this Mac Miller shit got me fucked up,” he added. “He was so nice. He was the sweetest guy… And we were both internet music kids… We used to talk. And this kid, he just loved music.”

mac Miller also encouraged fans to be open with their emotions and not to hide their grief.

“We should be allowed to be sad about it,” he continued. “Like my heart was broken… and I feel good about being sad, because it tells me he was special, that I had a special moment… Everybody in this room deserves that.”

Meanwhile, G-Eazy broke down onstage as he performed his track Everything Will Be OK in honour of his friend during his gig at the MIDFLORIDA Credit Union Amphitheatre in Florida.

“I swear, life is so fucking fragile,” he said, as a giant photo of Miller filled a screen behind him. “Appreciate the moment. Be present in it. Tell people you love you care about them.”
