Madonna and Maluma releases Medellín, have a listen

Madonna’s first single from the ‘Madame X’ album is ‘Medellín’ featuring Maluma.

Of Maluma, Madonna saud, “I met him backstage at the (MTV) Video Music Awards and he was very sweet. The next day sent me flowers and said what a great honor it was to meet me.Then I heard from his man get that he wanted to collaborate with me so I told that to Mirwais so Mirwais and I start listening to his music more closely and like all the reggae-tone that he does. Let’s do something slightly different but still has a connection to the music he makes and is still connected to Madame X. We started working on music and he started commenting and adding things and eventually we got into a studio together. He’s so great to work with. One of the most easy going, open, warm, generous, doesn’t eave the studio until the work is done. Has great work ethic. I adore him. Nothing but great things to say about him.”

‘Medellín’ was produced by ‘American Life’ collaborator Mirwais. The submissive first song is a rare, mellow introduction to a Madonna record. She has done it before, firstly in 1986 with ‘Live To Tell’ on ‘True Blue’, again on ‘Bedtime Stories’ in 1994 with ‘Secret’ and last in 1998 with ‘Frozen’ from ‘Ray of Light’.

Check it out.

‘Madame X’ is due June 15, 2019. It will be Madonna’s first album since 2015’s ‘Rebel Heart’.

Madonna is expected to perform ‘Medellín’ at Eurovision on 18 May, 2019.

I still remember the CBS guy delivering Cyndi Lauper’s debut album ‘She’s So Unusual’ to EON-FM, the radio station I was working at in 1983. ‘She’s So Unusual’ was released on 14 October 1983, the same day as Lionel Richie’s ‘Can’t Slow Down’ and The Jam’s greatest hits album ‘Snap!’. It came out in the same week as Culture Club’s ‘Color By Numbers’. Those were the days when something important was happening every week with new music.
