Madonna Flew Economy To Lisbon

Pop superstar Madonna has been shunning luxury travel to fly economy between London and her new home in Lisbon, Portugal.

Madonna was photographed napping while wearing oversized sunglasses as she sat onboard the small plane, which did not have first class, on Monday, when she was accompanied by two female friends and members of her security team, according to Us Weekly.

Portuguese comedian Herman Jose, who had previously met the star at a mutual acquaintance’s private party in Lisbon, was a passenger on the same flight, and reveals the singer was instantly recognisable, despite trying to remain low-key.

“The moment she entered the plane with her head all covered with a cloth and a big hat, she looked at me and I immediately recognised her,” he told the publication.

According to the veteran funnyman, he was “causing some commotion” by posing for selfies with the airline crew, but Madonna, who turned 60 last month (Aug18), didn’t seem to mind.

“She didn’t care at all,” he said.

It’s not the first time Madonna has settled for economy class for the short flight to Lisbon – she was spotted on a similar plane last November (17).

Madonna, a mother of six, moved from New York to Lisbon last summer (17) with her four adopted children after 12-year-old David was accepted into the youth academy of famed Portuguese soccer club Benfica.

She is also raising her daughters Mercy, also 12, and five-year-old twins Stella and Esther in the Portuguese capital.

I still remember the CBS guy delivering Cyndi Lauper’s debut album ‘She’s So Unusual’ to EON-FM, the radio station I was working at in 1983. ‘She’s So Unusual’ was released on 14 October 1983, the same day as Lionel Richie’s ‘Can’t Slow Down’ and The Jam’s greatest hits album ‘Snap!’. It came out in the same week as Culture Club’s ‘Color By Numbers’. Those were the days when something important was happening every week with new music.
