Madonna Warns ‘Don’t Park In My Driveway’

Madonna has jokingly apologised for putting up parking signs at the public car space outside her New York City home.

Madonna hit headlines on Thursday (24Mar16) when she was reportedly ordered to remove signs in front of her property which read, “Tenant parking only… unauthorized vehicles will be towed away at vehicle owner’s expense”. In addition, the words “No Parking” had been embossed in cement on the sidewalk, and the nearby curb had been painted yellow.

Madonna’s neighbour reported the signage and the singer’s attempt to reserve her own parking spot to the New York Department of Transportation. An official visited Madonna’s $40 million (£28 million) Upper East Side townhouse on Wednesday (23Mar16) and ordered her team to remove the signage immediately, according to TMZ.com.

Editors of the U.K.’s Daily Mail picked up the story, with a headline which read: “She’s playing ‘B**ch, I’m Madonna’: Pop icon angers NYC neighbours by putting up FAKE ‘No parking’ signs outside $40 million Upper East Side Penthouse.”

Hours after news broke, Madonna took to Instagram and posted a screenshot of the Daily Mail’s article, and seemingly brushed off the criticisms by poking fun at the entire situation.

“Yes Bishes (sic) I am Madonna,” she wrote, “and that is my driveway and if people park in front of it i cant drive in my driveway! So sorry the city doesn’t like the color yellow! We will paint a nice dull grey to keep our neighbors happy! Sorry! Im saying 3 extra Hail Mary’s this Easter for this transgression!”

The parking incident is just the latest controversy surrounding the star – she has been locked in a custody battle with her ex-husband Guy Ritchie over their 15-year-old son Rocco for months. The teenager refused to return back to New York after visiting his father in London in December (15).
