ARIA nominee, Mama Kin, will perform a special show created exclusively for the Mullum Music Festival.
Singers and musicians from the Cape Byron Rudolph Steiner School will join Mama Kin for this one-off show. Dubbed the Kindred Singers, the group will join Mama Kin on stage to play selected songs from her collection.
“These young people are incredibly inspiring and the energy they bring to performing is completely infectious. It’s always a joy to be part of this festival and this show is going to add another level of enriched experience for me, for these beautiful students and for our audience,” says Mama Kin.
The festival is held annually across the bars, halls and streets of the NSW town of Mullumbimby, from November 21-24.
Mama Kin is a major supporter of the event that aims to identify and nurture young talent. Through the Youth Mentorship Program, Mama Kin has mentored singer Matilda Dodds in 2012. This year applicants have the chance to work with artists such as the band Skipping Girl Vinegar, experimental vocal group Aluka and ‘folktronic’ artist Caitlin Park.
Emerging artists also appear heavily on the bill for the festival. This years additions include Potato Potato, Gabriel and Cecilia and Ya Kulcha Crew with many more on the line-up.
Mama Kin and the Kindred Singers will play St Martin’s Hall for the Mullum Music Festival on November 24.
