Yothu Yindi singer Mandawuy Yunupingu has been rushed to hospital after collapsing at his home in the Northern Territory today.
The 56-year old singer has been battling renal disease but last week managed to perform for Yothu Yindi’s induction into the ARIA Hall of Fame.
The singer, who lives in Arnhem Land, was flown to the Royal Darwin Hospital.
Yothu Yindi’s former manager Alan James told the ABC that the singer is expected to be released from hospital “in four or five days”.
Yothu Yindi performed their classic ‘Treaty’ at the ARIA Awards with Peter Garrett, Paul Kelly, Dan Sultan and Jessica Mauboy.
