Marcia Hines has become involved with Record Store Day Australia as ambassador for the events of 2014.
Marcia will promote the day leading up to Record Store Day Australia on April 19.
“When I was a kid back in Boston, one of the most popular places on earth was our neighbourhood record store,” she said in a statement.” We’d spend hours looking through the racks when the weekend came to see what we could buy!! The same thing applied when I arrived here in Australia! It’s always a happening place and it remains that way today. Nothing beats browsing through the racks and as I release my new album “Amazing” that feeling of discovering a new album and taking it home is still one of the most important experiences that I think we as an industry can give our fans”.
Record Store Day Australia is a day of activity in music stores all over the country with in-store artist performances, special Record Store releases from the labels and activities marking the day for music fans.
Industry figures prove Australians mostly by physical copies of their albums. Only 34% of the Top 10 albums sold last week in Australia where digital purchases.
Record Store Day Australia drew record crowds and with more activities planned for 2014, numbers are expected to increase this year. All entertainment at Record Store Day Australia is free.
