Mariah Carey complained that the air fans on stage weren’t “blowing air appropriately” during her Amsterdam concert.
The 46-year-old ended the European leg of her Sweet Sweet Fantasy tour at Ziggo Dome in the city on Sunday night but things didn’t go exactly to plan and Mariah kicked off her concert 45 minutes late. She told the audience that she had been held up due to celebrating her “dear friend’s birthday”.
Then Mariah’s performance was interrupted by the singer’s complaints about the electric fans that adorned the stage.
Struggling with the strength of the wind emitted by the fans, Mariah raged: “Urgh, these fans, I just want to fix them. It’s just never how I want it. Don’t you think that if I want the fans to blow air appropriately then that’s what we need to have?
“Why are there so many things that I must do myself around here?”
Mariah’s roadies then reportedly dashed onto the stage to try and fix the issue.
As they tackled the fans, Mariah broke into an ad-lib song and told the crowd once it was fixed: “That’s so much better now I can sing a song and try to sing it to every single person in here tonight.”
Mariah will be heading to South Africa for the second leg of her tour, with her next gig taking place in Cape Town on Tuesday and her final date being in Johannesburg on May 2.
The singer has been filming preparations for her tour and life on the road for her upcoming reality show Mariah’s World.
“Mariah is looking forward to a break after travelling the world on her tour,” a source told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “She’s worked really hard and she has also had the cameras capturing every detail backstage, too.”
