Singer Mariah Carey has delighted fans by revealing she is finally working on new music.
The five-time Grammy winner’s last full-length album, Me. I Am Mariah… The Elusive Chanteuse, hit shelves in 2014 and since then, she has only released one song, Infinity, from her compilation disc #1 last year (15).
However, in light of the impending conclusion of her concert residency in Las Vegas on 11 September (16), Mariah has returned to the recording studio and she is planning to unveil fresh tracks to fans in a big way.
“I’m making new music and getting ready to go on a Latin American tour,” she tells news show Extra.
“(I’m going to) get these new songs out and get on the road and reveal them darling, have a reveal,” she adds.
Meanwhile, rumours suggesting Mariah and The Weeknd are hard at work on new material have been circulating for weeks, but the Emotions hitmaker has set the record straight on the true status of their collaboration.
“It’s not planned out yet, I know he’s doing a lot right now,” she shares. “We had a really good conversation and we’ll see. I think he’s a really talented artist.”
But fans can certainly expect to see whole new side of Carey when she debuts her eight-part TV docu-series on America’s E! network in December (16).
The star notes she and producers are doing everything in their power to ensure the show is a success.
“We have to go through all the footage so we’re going to see what’s boring as hell and what’s hopefully decent and good and (will) leave you laughing,” Mariah reveals.
In addition to her many professional projects, Carey is also planning a wedding after accepting fiance James Packer’s proposal earlier this year (16).
