Marianne Faithfull Plans 50th Anniversary World Tour

Marianne Faithfull will celebrate her fiftieth anniversary in music with a world tour that will last over a year.

The tour opens on October 11 in Stuttgart, Germany and, so far, runs through February with all dates announced to date in Europe.

Faithfull’s music career started in 1964 with her cover of Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and Andrew Loog Oldham’s As Tears Go By (1964 / #9 U.K. / #22 U.S.). She followed the next year with three straight top ten U.K. singles (Come and Stay With Me (1965 / #4 U.K. / #26 U.S.), This Little Bird (1965 / #6 U.K. / #32 U.S.), Summer Nights (1965 / #10 U.K. / #24 U.S.) before becoming a primarily album artist. In 1979, she released her greatest triumph, Broken English and has, in total, released twenty studio albums.

Marianne has also acted in over thirty films and television shows.
