Marilyn Manson Cancels Nine Dates After Set Collapse

Marilyn Manson has cancelled nine dates on his North American tour after he was crushed by a large prop onstage in New York City.

Marilyn Manson was performing a cover of the Eurythmics’ Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) during his gig at the Hammerstein Ballroom on Saturday (September 30), when he tried to climb a podium onstage, framed by a pair of giant gun motifs.

Video footage of the incident, posted by fans online, shows the metal structure wobbling under the singer’s weight, prompting him to fall backwards, with the prop crashing down on top of him as the band played on.

The music stopped when they realised Manson wasn’t getting back up, as production crewmembers rushed to the star’s aid.

He was taken offstage on a stretcher, prompting the show to be cut short, and his representative subsequently confirmed Manson had been treated in hospital.

Now his publicist has announced the rocker will be taking the next two weeks off to recuperate at his home in Los Angeles, although the extent of his injuries have not been revealed.

Manson, real name Brian Warner, had only kicked off his Heaven Upside Down Tour in Maryland on Wednesday (September 27).

The affected shows include gigs in Boston, Massachusetts; Chicago, Illinois; Toronto, Canada; and Houston, Texas, with Manson expected to resume the trek in Grand Prairie, Texas on October 15.

It is not yet known if the scrapped concerts will be rescheduled.

The tour had been designed to promote his upcoming album, Heaven Upside Down, which is set for release on October 6.
