Shock-rocker Marilyn Manson has signed on to appear as himself in the TV series Californication.
Vulture reports that Manson will be appearing in Californication as himself. It’s presumably as part of a plotline where main character, novelist Hank Moody (played by David Duchovny) is writing a rock opera.
The network Showtime announced the casting as part of the show’s sixth series. It has had a long history of rock references, with a guest appearances from Henry Rollins, RZA and Rick Springfield, and Moody’s novels being named after Slayer albums God Hates Us All, South Of Heaven and Seasons In The Abyss.
The Red Hot Chili Peppers have even sued the network over the title of the show, which is the same as their 1999 album.
