Music producer Mark Ronson has declared Lily Allen’s new music as some of her best work to date.
Allen is currently working on a new record, which will be her first release since single URL Badman failed to set the charts alight in 2014.
It was reported last December (15) that Lily had split from husband Sam Cooper and while she has yet to comment on the allegations, Mark said she is using the emotional upheaval to inspire new material.
“We’ve been writing together again on the new record. I feel like they are some of the best songs she’s written,” Mark told Britain’s The Sun newspaper. “Her voice sounds incredible. The stuff I’m working on is some of her most honest and heartbreaking music ever.
“She writes so honestly you can feel it.”
It had been thought Lily may debut some of her new tunes at Britain’s Glastonbury Festival, where she had been due to perform on Saturday (25Jun16).
But the mother-of-two broke the news that she wouldn’t be attending the world-famous music event due to a knee injury.
“I’m not going to Glastonbury,” she said. “I have a hole in the back of my kneecap and it’s excruciatingly painful so I don’t think the mud is for me.”
However, Mark is hopeful that Lily will be able to take to the stage to showcase her new material for fans in the near future.
“She’s like a needed performer. There’s nobody really doing s**t like that, really honest,” he said.
Mark’s claims about Lily’s heartbreak surrounding her reported split from Sam come after court documents obtained by British newspaper The Sun last week (ends26Jun16) revealed that the singer was in bed with her DJ lover Daniel London when stalker Alex Gray broke into her London home in October (15).
After Lily claimed she had been living a nightmare since 2009, when Gray began bombarding her with letters and posts on Twitter, he was convicted of burglary and stalking causing alarm and distress and was detained indefinitely under the U.K.’s Mental Health Act after being admitted to a mental facility for a psychiatric evaluation.
