Mark Ronson has added five names to the songwriting credits of ‘Uptown Funk’ in a blatant attempt to divert litigation.

The 2014 Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars hit ‘Uptown Funk’ bares more than a little resemblance to the 1980 song ‘Oops Upside Your Head’ by The Gap Band.

The Gap Band song was a no 4 R&B hit in America and reached no 6 on the UK singles chart in 1980.

‘Uptown Funk’ funk now credits The Gap Band’s Ronnie Wilson, Charles Wilson and Robert Wilson as well as their producers Rudolph Taylor and Lonnie Simmons.

‘Uptown Funk’ uses a sample of Trinidad James’ ‘All Gold Everything. The original release credited Ronson and Mars, producers Jeff Bhasker and Philip Lawrence, as well as Nicholas Williams (Trinidad James) and Devon Gallaspy,

Ronson took pre-emptive action adding the extra writers when Minder Music, the publishers of the Gap Band’s song, commenced legal action against Mars in February.

The ‘Oops Inside My Head’ writers will now earn 17% of all royalties from the Ronson hit.
