Marvin Hamlisch, one of the great movie soundtrack composers of our time, has passed away at the age of 68.
The songwriting legend composed over 40 major movie soundtracks including Sophie’s Choice and ‘Ordinary People’ but his showcase piece would have to be ‘The Entertainer’ from ‘The Sting’.
As a hit songwriter, Hamlisch wrote ‘The Way We Were’ for Barbra Streisand, ‘Nobody Does It Better’ for Carly Simon for the James Bond movie ‘The Spy Who Loved Me’.
Hamisch died after a short illness. Marvin is survived by Terre, his wife of 25 years.
