Matchbox Twenty’s Paul Doucette has signalled another break for the band with news he is planning on making a solo record in the New Year.
“I have decided to make a record in 2014. Not sure why, but fuck it. Why not,” he tweeted today.
Doucette released a solo record ‘Milk The Bee’ under the moniker The Break and Repair Method in 2008. He has also written music for films ‘The Shredderman Rules’ and ‘Just Pray’. His ‘Just Pray’ score earned him the award for Best Score at the 2005 Rhode Island Film Festival.
Doucette was originally the drummer for Matchbox Twenty and became rhythm guitarist following the departure of Adam Gaynor in 2005.
Adam Gaynor is now the founder of Creationville, the multi-media imagination company behind the character Edgar Pingleton. The company produces the soft toy Pingleton character and has published the book ‘This Is Edgar Pingleton’.
In 1995 Paul Doucette, Brian Yale and Rob Thomas were originally in the band Tabitha’s Secret with John Stanley and John Goff. When that band split, Doucette, Yale and Thomas recruited Gaynor and Kyle Cook and became Matchbox 20.
Matchbox 20 released their debut album ‘Yourself Or Someone Like You’ in 1996. It sold 12 million copies in the USA. They officially became Matchbox Twenty on their second record ‘Mad Season’ in 2000.
Matchbox Twenty have released five studio albums. The most recent was ‘North’ in 2012.
Lead singer Rob Thomas will play three charity dates at Borgata in Atlantic City, New Jersey on January 17, 18 and 19.
