Stand-up comedian Matt Okine will co-host Triple J breakfast with Alex Dyson in 2014.
Ballard is leaving the breakfast duo after 4 years to pursue a life of stand-up comedy. Okine, a stand-up comedian, is going in the opposite direction pursing a life of broadcasting.
Okine began his comedy career through Triple J. He was a finalist in the Triple J Raw comedy contest in 2004. From that he scored a small part in the Fox movie ‘Aquamarine’.
As the gigs started to come in Matt evolved to the ‘Show Us Your Roots’ festival at the Canberra Theatre in 2006 and then a slot on the ‘New Talent’ showcase at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival that same year.
Matt Okine has since toured nationally and internationally performing in Canada, the UK and at local festivals including Homebake and Falls. Matt has also had small parts in Neighbours and All Saints.
The Matt and Alex show will return to Triple J in January 2014.
Oh and apparently according to Tom and Alex the J in Triple J now stands for ‘Justice’. R.I.P. the last connection with the original 2 Double J in Sydney when the original J stood for ‘Joint’.
