Meat Puppets will head to Australia in May for the first time in over 20 years to play Melbourne’s CherryRock014.
Meat Puppets, featuring founder Curt Kirkwood, were one of the main influences of the Seattle sound and favourites of Nirvana, Soundgarden and Dinosaur Jr. Nirvana covered three of their songs ‘Plateau’, ‘Oh Me’ and ‘Lake of Fire’ for the MTV Unplugged performance.
Other acts announced for round one of CherryRock014 include Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk, King of The North, Beastwars (NZ), Drunk Mums, Child, Bitter Sweet Kicks, The Harlots and Don Fernando.
CherryRock014 is a The Cherry Bar and in AC/DC Lane and it is loud. Cherry Bar owner James Young is cautious about confirming the event past 2014. “The new residents of 108 Flinders Street move into their 189 apartments overlooking AC/DC Lane in the first week of June, so we wanted to host our biggest and best CherryRock street rock n roll party in the last week of May. As the Rolling Stones’ sing “This could be the last time, maybe the last time, I don’t know…”
CherryRock014 is on May 25 from 12 noon in AC/DC Lane in the heart of the city of Melbourne.
