Melbourne Gathers For Mel Fest A Benefit For Melissa McNamara

The Melbourne music community will gather on Friday for Mel Fest, a benefit for Mel McNamara who is battling a third round of cancer.

The charity event will feature Paul Dempsey, Glenn Richards and four of his famous friend (wink wink), Dan Kelly, Dan Brodie and Krista Polvere.

Mel McNamara has been involved with the Melbourne music scene for the past 20 years initially as a photographer. Her husband Andrew ‘Skipper’ Skim is a lighting technician for Augie March (oh look there’s that wink wink again) as had worked for Meredith and Golden Plains.

Mel and Andrew have a young family but this round of breast cancer is a challenge for the couple, especially with the medical bills mounting up around it.

The idea for Mel Fest came from Mel’s singer songwriter friend Krista Polvere. “Having her closest mates by her side is helping Mel a great deal. She’s the kindest soul I’ve ever met and has been there for me consistently in so many ways. Our friendship is unique and there are some people who you know your lives are meant to be shared with forever. Thanks for being my rock Mel I hope I’m being yours,” said Krista.
