The Melbourne Symphony has released its program for 2017 with collaborations with The Tea Party, The Whitlams and Kate Miller-Heidke on the list.
Kate Miller-Heidke will start the season with the MSO on 28 January 2017. The show will include her own hits as well as songs from her opera ‘The Rabbits.
For Tim Freedman the show with The Whitlams and the MSO is an encore performance. The Tea Party and the MSO will also collaborate with a one-off event in April 2017.
The MSO shows come just days after Amanda Pelman’s excellent ‘David Bowie: Nothing Has Changed’ featuring the MSO with Tim Rogers, Deborah Conway, Adalita, Steve Kilbey and iOTA.

Kate Miller-Heidke is a classically trained singer who traverses the worlds of contemporary pop, folk and opera. In her first collaboration with the MSO, Kate Miller-Heidke performs her popular hits, favourites from recent albums, songs from her award-winning opera The Rabbits, covers and brand new songs.

Canadian trio The Tea Party will perform with the MSO for one night only. Since its inception, the band has relied heavily on the use of Middle Eastern instruments to provide a unique twist to their hard rock style.
