Acclaimed and ludicrously prolific roots singer-songwriter Van Walker books a national tour for 2012.
Walker came out of Tassie to Melbourne ten years, doing time in the excellent rock unit The Swedish Magazines, but all the while accumulating a monstrous catalogue of solo material.
It seemingly gushed out of his brain, and he recorded nine albums in two years, releasing five of them independently and gaining a fiercely loyal audience.
Critics, too, are gushing. Rhythms magazine praised his, “song writing and delivery constructed to break the hearts of many in the Aussie Roots scene who have tried for years to express themselves in this manner.”
EG praised his “wonderful storytelling”, Music Australia Guide admired his ability to “write songs with the ease the rest of us breathe”, and Beat Magazine went so far as to compare him to a modern day, Collingwood Dylan.
Fuse Music have cherry-picked the finest tunes from the five releases for the compilation Underneath The Radar, released last week, and he’ll set off on tour to support it early next year.
Tickets for the tour will go on sale on December 1. Get in touch with the venues.
